About Me
Early Life and Education
I was born and raised in Carpinteria and have lived here my entire life. To start my career, I went to SBCC and studied Automotive Technology and Construction. While in school, to support myself, I worked for a local general contractor building and installing fine cabinetry. After graduating with my certificate in Automotive Technology, I went to work full-time at an independent auto repair shop for over five years. During this time, I proudly became and worked as a Certified Automotive Master Mechanic through the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) program.
Career Transition to Electrical Work
Subsequently, I decided I wanted to learn AC systems. Therefore, I moved on in life and began working for an electrical contractor doing commercial and residential electrical work. Not only was I working as an electrician, but I also became a programmer for residential smart home lighting systems. Additionally, I contributed to the design process and performed field installations. During this time, I obtained enough hours to become a qualified journeyman. Consequently, I am currently working towards obtaining an Electrician Contractor’s License.
Specializing in DC Electrical Systems
Eventually, I discovered I enjoy working with DC electrical more than AC electrical. However, I still work on both systems. Eventually, I have been part of quite a few boat electrical projects here in Santa Barbara. So far, I am currently a Certified ABYC Marine Electrical Technician and NMEA Basic Marine Electronics Installer. Furthermore, I have studied and received hands-on training with Victron Energy power management systems and have obtained a Marine Electrical Systems Diploma through American Digital University.
Passion and Services
Throughout my life, I have always had a passion for working around electrical circuits. Moreover, I get satisfaction out of troubleshooting the unknown as well as designing and wiring new electrical circuits. Therefore, please give me a call and let me know how I can be of service to you.
A few of the many books that I have read and enjoyed, which I’d recommend to others, include:
- Boatowners Mechanical and Electrical Manual – Nigel Calder
- Electrical Manual and Advanced Marine Electronics Troubleshooting – Edwin Sherman
- ABYC Marine Electrical Certification Study Guide
- NMEA 0400 Installation standard
